Tomatoes are classified by their growth habit: determinate versus indeterminate. Determinate varieties will grow to a certain height and set fruit. Indeterminate varieties are vining and will continue to grow and fruit as long as they are supported vertically. For our Caprese Kit, we’ve chosen the Celebrity tomato, a semi-determinate type with a superb taste complimented by our Genovese basil.
Tomato and basil are warm season plants that grow best when temperatures are between 60°F to 95°F after the last frost in the Spring. They need 8 hours of sunlight per day and can be harvested in about 50 to 75 days.
